Ms. West has practiced exclusively in the field of immigration and nationality law since starting with the Law Offices of Hyder & Overas in 2002. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (magna cum laude) with a double major in French and Mathematics from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina, during which time she also studied at the Université Catholique de l’Ouest in Angers, France. Ms. West earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the School of Law at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002. During law school, Ms. West worked at the N.C. Justice and Community Development Center's Immigrants Legal Assistance Project. She also served as President of Carolina Law's Immigrants Outreach Project. Ms. West was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 2002 and has practiced in all areas of immigration and nationality law since that time. She has given presentations on U.S. immigration law to groups including the Postdoctoral Association of VCU, Bon Secours Care-A-Van, the Richmond Christian Leadership Initiative, and various local religious organizations. She has volunteered with, conducted training for, and co-organized local AILA Citizenship Day events. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
