Our law firm has a decades-long tradition of representing and assisting immigrants from around the world. Our founder, Syed Iqbal Hyder, was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 1979 and started the law practice which is now known as the Law Offices of Hyder & Overas. An immigrant himself, Mr. Hyder graduated with honors from St. Xavier's College in Calcutta, India in 1966. He immigrated to the United States in 1971, and in 1978 he earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree (cum laude) from North Carolina Central University School of Law in Durham, North Carolina. Mr. Hyder served thousands of clients for over twenty years. He was an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and gave seminars on immigration law matters in various continuing legal education programs. Mr. Hyder also co-edited the first comprehensive edition of Immigration and Nationality Act that incorporated the legislative amendments implemented by IIRAIRA 1996.
Arturas Overas joined Mr. Hyder's practice in January of 1999. Following Mr. Hyder's passing in 2002, Mr. Overas, also a naturalized U.S. citizen, took over the practice. To this day, the Law Offices of Hyder & Overas continue Mr. Hyder's work of helping immigrants, their families, and their employers to navigate the increasingly complex immigration laws of the United States.
With over 40 years of combined immigration and naturalization law experience, our attorneys will ensure that your case is handled with the utmost level of knowledge and professional expertise.
